Worry weighs a person down.  Trust is the antidote!

Shine (intransitive verb): to give out a bright light; a quality of brightness especially from reflected light; be very talented or perform very well

My 2019 theme word is SHINE.  The supporting bible verse is “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” Isaiah 60:1

My theme word for 2019 is “Shine”. The truth is, just saying or thinking the word brings a smile to face. Even if that’s the only way I use it all throughout the year, it will have served its purpose. Read more…


Integrity (noun): the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; a sound or unimpaired condition; having a moral compass that doesn’t waver; the state of being whole and undivided

Having integrity means I am true to myself and would do nothing that demeans or disgraces my character.  I am a Child of the King!  My thoughts, words, and actions represent Him.  If I dishonor myself, I dishonor Him!

Integrity implies trustworthiness and incorruptibility to a degree that one is incapable of being false to a promise, responsibility or pledge. In the Christian perspective, it’s not just about our words matching our actions, but also that our words, beliefs, thoughts, behaviors, deeds are in harmony with the Gospel. Read more…


Light (noun): Something that makes vision possible; a source of light; spiritual illumination; something that enlightens or informs

Jesus is the Source of Light, as light cannot exist without a source.  For his light to shine everywhere in the world, we are to be carriers and reflectors of His Light.

Jesus faced the ultimate darkness – three days of pure blackness from his last breath on the cross to his resurrection. Because He conquered the night, He is our source of Light. And because His Light lives in me, I can face any darkness and become a reflector of His Light to the world.  Read more…


Diligent (adjective): characterized by steady, earnest, and energetic effort 

Be Diligent.  Give firm, sincere, spirited effort to the example you set with your life.

Have you ever been called “diligent”?  I’ve always took it to mean simply “a hard worker”. But then I was studying the book of Proverbs, and the word kept popping up all over. So naturally, it became a focus word for a blog post.  Read more….


Peace (noun): a state of tranquility; freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions; harmony in personal relations

Peace is the calm assurance of the Spirit within us, the confidence and trust we carry in our minds of God’s faithfulness, the state of our souls when we abide in Christ.

Peace has been a recurring theme in my thoughts, meditations, and journals over recent years. I hesitated to write a blog post on this word because, well, to use the words of Philippians 4:7 – it surpasses understanding!  Read more…
