Hello and Welcome!

Thank you for visiting One Word Faith. My name is Jamie Boettcher, and I am honored to share my world with you.  I have been interested in writing throughout my life (I can even recite the first Haiku I wrote in third grade!) but really became passionate about it when I started my Faith walk with our loving Creator.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.  Psalm 23:1‭-‬3

All of my posts will be seasoned with scripture, but otherwise will entail a variety of topics – family, travel, self-development, dogs, weight-loss, nature, music, dreams, and purpose.

My hope is that as you read these journal excerpts, poems, and fictional short stories,  you will walk away with a renewed mind and a refreshed soul.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:2

If  you’d like to know more about why I follow Jesus, check out some of the testimony I share in my blog post Because.

A Little More About My Family

I am a married Midwesterner with two teenage boys and a dog (regarding parenting teenagers… check out my post Priceless).  Our family enjoys the seasons of nature through a variety of activities like fishing, boating,  swimming, walking, hiking, biking, hunting, skiing/snowboarding, volleyball, basketball, movies, video games, card games, and board games (not all of us do everything on this list!).  We are dog-lovers!  We previously dedicated two years to fostering rescue dogs in our home, and currently regularly care for a variety of friends dogs (one of my favorite foster dog stories is detailed in my post Homecoming). We enjoy family vacations together, and most of the scenic pictures on One Word Faith are from those trips.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things You do not change, the courage to change the things you ask me to, and the wisdom to understand Your will. Amen
